Your role at BRE

We are currently seeking a dynamic and organised individual to join our team as a Responsible Sourcing Consultant. You will work closely with the Responsible Sourcing Senior Consultants, the Sustainable Products Team Leads, and the wider Sustainable Products Team to:

  • Own and manage responsible sourcing certification projects in line with the BES 6001 Framework Standard for Responsible Sourcing, attend customer meetings, and prepare their written proposals and technical reports.
  • Deliver fee-earning work contributing to the team’s financial success.
  • Undertake customer technical surveillance audits in line with the BES 6001 Framework Standard for Responsible Sourcing.
  • Drive future improvements and innovations in the assurance schemes design.
  • Ensure robust and credible outcomes in accordance with the relevant standards by which the certification and verification schemes are developed and operate.
  • Seek and review customer and external stakeholder feedback and identify means and ways of improving performance through enhanced systems and processes.
  • Support technical experts in the upkeep and evolution of the underpinning Sustainable Products science base, to ensure that product development is scientifically led.
  • Support the development of digital platforms to strengthen our offer to the market.

Your profile

Some skills that will be necessary for this position include:

Essential

  • Excellent knowledge of sustainable sourcing, in Quality/Technical/Ethical Management roles.
  • A working knowledge of audits and certification and its role in managing product supply chains.
  • A working knowledge of construction materials and the importance of material traceability.
  • Strong technical knowledge of the Organisational Management System Standards.
  • Knowledge of sustainability legislation and initiatives such as science-based targets, Sustainable Development Goals, UNGC, CDP; supply chain assurance programs and initiatives such as ETI, SMETA and SA 8000.
  • Knowledge and understanding of international standards and legislation relevant to BES 6001.
  • Willingness to travel in the UK and Europe to attend client and stakeholder meetings.
  • Excellent communication skills; an ability to understand and interpret customers’ needs and deliver a service and/or product that exceeds customers’ expectations.
  • Able to build effective relationships both internally and externally, and be a brand ambassador for BRE.
  • Able to demonstrate integrity in dealing with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Able to prioritise workload and demonstrate initiative and independence to react to changing priorities.
  • Able to demonstrate excellent project management skills by managing several projects at a time.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer relationship-building skills.
  • IT literate and extensive knowledge of MS Office etc.

 

Desirable

  • Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant product-related sector such as sustainability.
  • A good understanding of the UK construction sector supply chains and the role and expectations of each party.
  • Track record of creating, launching, and managing products/tools for sustainable sourcing.
  • Knowledge of BREEAM and/or the BRE business.
  • Membership of an appropriate professional institution or organisation, e.g. IEMA.
